Certified Well-Being Ambassador (CWBA)

Facilitating the destigmatization of mental health in our communities through education and empowerment.

Certified Well-being Ambassador Program

Anyone who completes all three Mental Health Awareness Trainings offered by PSCFL will become eligible to apply for our “Certified Well-being Ambassador” program. These individuals are equipped not only to make a positive difference in their workplaces, but also in the lives of family, friends, and others in the communities they encounter daily. Well-being Ambassadors are enrolled in a network of their peers who have also completed the qualifying training.

CWBAs are given direct access to PSCFL staff for ongoing technical assistance and support. They are also included in our statewide community of CWBAs and connect via quarterly community calls. CWBAs also have access to our CWBA Toolkit, Florida Community Resource Guide, and ongoing access to our continuing education courses to support their work and growth.

Certified Well-Being Ambassador Program Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Emotional CPR (eCPR), and Orientation to Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) trainings or WRAP Seminar I.
  • Quarterly Community of Practice Sessions to refresh training knowledge, connect as peers, and offer support (CWBAs must attend at least one per year).
  • Continued education in relevant Well-being topics such as Health Equity, Self-Care, and Effective Communication (CWBAs must earn at least 8 well-being-related CEUs per year).

THE PATHS TO CERTIFICATION

FL Healthcare Worker Well-Being Ambassadors (Including Peer Specialists)

Medical Provider Well-Being Ambassadors promote health equity, support, lead, and implement wellness initiatives in medical settings. This program is sponsored by a SAMHSA grant and program fees are complimentary to participants. The Mental Health Awareness Training project allows us to train healthcare workers in the state of Florida to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges and employ crisis de-escalation techniques, establish linkages with community-based mental health agencies to refer individuals, and provide education on supportive community resources to their patients. We also strive to educate healthcare workers on the necessity and benefits of their own self-care in promoting wellness to their patients.  By empowering those in healthcare with increased awareness of mental health and self-care, we can improve the whole community’s health. Costs of training and initial certification are included.

Workplace Well-Being Ambassadors

Workplace Well-Being Ambassadors support, lead, and implement wellness or mindfulness programs, health promotion, or initiatives within a workplace. They can also provide visible support for employees to approach for help or advice if they are struggling in any way. Individuals may lead the way, or this effort can be a part of an organization-wide approach. We provide training for individuals and support for organization-wide initiatives.

Community Well-Being Ambassador

Community Well-Being Ambassadors are all others who choose to become certified and connected to a community of well-being advocates. They use their passions to promote individual and community health and well-being. Community CWBAs use their skill in their volunteer efforts at houses of worship, civic organizations, civic clubs, and other community organizations.
